<Fossils Talk>The November Birthstone - Topaz
Topaz is the November birthstone. The English "Topaz" is also known as “yellow gemstones”. In the Middle Ages, the term "Topaz" was used to refer to all yellow gemstones. German gemologists had officially identified "Topaz" as the mineral currently referred to since 1737.
Topaz is divided into "F-type" and "OH-type" in gemological. Type F is usually yellow, but also includes colorless, brown, blue, and light green. With the exception of blue, other colors will slowly fade with exposure. Type OH includes yellow, orange, pink and purple. The main origins are Brazil and Pakistan. Among them, there is a "color of sherry wine" with a yellow and orange tone, which is the highest grade of topaz and is called "imperial topaz".
Topaz is a gemstone with a variety of colors, such as pear-like bright orange-yellow, flame-like red, luxury violet, clear blue, elegant pale green, and even water drop-like colorless. It is a gemstone with many options and high acceptance. Topaz almost has the color you like, so it is well-deserved to be called the "Stone of Friendship". It symbolizes sincere and persistent love. It is said that wearing topaz as an amulet can keep you safe, relieve symptoms of insomnia, eliminate negative energy, and enhance people's self-confidence.
Other Sharing of Collection: Pyrite
This mineral’s metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give the Pyrite a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool’s gold. The name “pyrite” is derived from the Greek word for fire, because that would create sparks when you strike hard stones against the pyrite. During the early years of the 20th century, pyrite was used as a mineral detector in radio receiver. Pyrite is used to make marcasite jewelry and was known since ancient times and was popular in the Victorian era.
